Syria, Israel close to signing security agreement – The Independent Arabia

Syria and Israel plan to sign a US-brokered security agreement on September 25. US President Donald Trump is expected to attend the ceremony, Saudi newspaper The Independent Arabia reported.

According to reports, the day before the agreement is signed, on September 24, Syrian President Ahmed al-Shar' will address the UN General Assembly in New York (USA). However, the document to be signed will not be a full peace agreement, but rather limited security measures aimed at reducing tensions between the two countries.

The Jewish state has not yet officially commented on this. If confirmed, this would be a new step in relations between Israel and Syria, which have been officially at war since 1948.
