Russian police gain permission to enter migrants' homes without permission
As part of measures to tighten control over migrants in Russia, police officers will be given the right to enter homes and other buildings where foreigners under deportation regime live without permission. The new procedure is enshrined in a law that will come into force on March 5, TASS reports.
The police may request information and documents necessary for control from state bodies and authorities of other countries, including information considered commercial, banking or tax secrets. In addition, the police will be able to obtain information from banks about the existence of bank accounts of foreigners and the movement of money through these accounts.
The Interior Ministry will also be able to track foreigners using various technical means. This also applies to people and companies that help foreigners stay in Russia. The police will be able to use data from mobile devices, geolocation and payment systems, as well as facial recognition technology.
Starting March 5, Russia will introduce a new procedure for expelling foreign citizens or stateless persons who are illegally present on the territory of the country. It will restrict certain rights and freedoms of foreign offenders and subject them to state control measures in the field of migration.
