Tactical nuclear weapons are designed for use on the battlefield. It has a short range and low yield compared to more powerful nuclear warheads used in long-range missiles.
Russia said that it retains control over the weapons it sends to Belarus.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus in March. Putin also said that the high-precision "Iskander" missile systems, which he previously supplied to Belarus, will be equipped with this weapon.
In May, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Hrenin signed documents on the process of storing Russia's non-strategic nuclear weapons in storage in Belarus.
