Prayer rooms for Muslims may open in Armenian hotels
The head of the Armenian Tourism Committee, Lusine Gevorkyan, has called on hotel owners to create prayer rooms for Muslim tourists, Armenia Today reports.
According to the Hraparak newspaper, Gevorkian demanded the establishment of special prayer rooms for Muslims in hotels and warned that if this condition is not met, entrepreneurs may be deprived of their licenses.
The Armenian Ministry of Economy, however, stressed that opening prayer rooms in hotels is not mandatory. According to them, the meeting mainly discussed the issue of selling food with a "halal" label and creating amenities for tourists from the Persian Gulf countries.
