Muslim Russians fighting in Ukraine were allowed not to fast

The head of the religious assembly of Russian Muslims, mufti Albir Kgranov, allowed the Russian Muslim soldiers fighting in Ukraine not to fast during Ramadan.

Russian Muslim soldiers participating in the war in Ukraine are allowed not to fast during Ramadan. Mufti Albir Krganov, head of the religious assembly of Muslims of the Russian Federation, who is making a pilgrimage to Mecca on the eve of the holy month for Muslims, confirmed this to TASS.

" We ask for the safe return of military personnel. Yes, considering where they are, if they are allowed to fast , it will not be against Sharia (Islamic standards)," said Krganov.

According to him , believers are entering the month of Ramadan this year with a positive mood. "Hope for the best. To implement the goals set in the recent address of the head of state [to the Federal Assembly], to implement the programs to increase the welfare of citizens and implement the national savings , to establish order around the country," the mufti added.

In his turn, Mufti Rushan Abbyasov, Deputy Chairman of the Religious Department of Muslims of the Russian Federation (DUM), noted that Muslim servicemen who were wounded during the war in Ukraine do not want to miss this opportunity . "In the past years, we went to hospitals and talked with our soldiers. You know, even though they are being treated, they say that we will not miss it, they want to fast," he said at a press conference. Therefore, Muslim military personnel may fast if fasting does not impair their health. "This is a good thing ," believes the mufti.
