Muslim leaders and politicians, outraged by the US policy towards Gaza, refused to attend a meeting in Chicago invited by President Joe Biden. At least 29 Arab and Muslim organizations and a number of public activists in the country signed a collective letter saying they refused to attend the meeting.

At least 29 Arab and Muslim organization leaders, as well as several community activists, signed a letter refusing to meet with Biden's aides, ArabNews reported.

It is noted that Biden has been heavily criticized for supporting Israel's invasion of Gaza, which has killed more than 31,000 Palestinians. Recent elections in several states with large numbers of Arab and Muslim voters have strongly opposed Biden's candidacy.

For example, on Tuesday, the people of Illinois participate in the primary, and the meeting scheduled for last Thursday fell on this day.

"Our position is clear: until President Biden and his team commit to an immediate ceasefire and an unrestricted flow of aid to Gaza, any meeting will only be a photo op," said Youssef Zegar, a representative of one of the civil society organizations.
