An attack was carried out on a small mine in the Balochistan province of Pakistan, which is struggling for independence. Militants using heavy weapons rounded up the miners and shot them. At least 20 people died and 6 were injured in the incident.

At least 20 workers were killed and seven others injured when gunmen attacked a small private mine in Pakistan on Friday morning, Reuters reports.

The incident took place in the western province of Baluchistan. Rich in resources, but the poorest region of Pakistan, bordering Iran and Afghanistan, has been fighting for independence for many years. Terrorist attacks regularly occur in Balochistan.

"A group of armed men attacked Junaid Soal mine in Duki area. They used heavy weapons," said city police chief Humayun Khan.

According to him , the terrorists threw grenades into the mines, then gathered the workers together and opened fire on them. The attackers also set fire to cars and equipment.

"We received 20 bodies. Six people were hospitalized," said Khan Shadizai, a doctor at the hospital in Duki.

So far, no rebel group has claimed responsibility for the miners' deaths . However, one of the largest terrorist organizations in the region is the Balochistan Liberation Army. In August , an attack on a railway bridge and highway connecting Balochistan with the rest of Pakistan killed more than 70 people. This group took responsibility for it.
