Massacre in Sudan: 200 people reportedly burned alive

Violence has escalated in the North Darfur and Kordofan regions since mid-July, with more than 450 civilians, including women and children, killed.

The Rapid Action Force (RAF) fighting against the Sudanese army is accused of committing war crimes. In particular, up to 300 Sudanese were killed in the town of Bara in Kordofan region between July 10 and 13, including pregnant women and children. Another 25 people were killed in North Darfur between July 24 and 25.

Emergency Lawyers reported that 200 people were burned alive in the village of Shagalnom. In Hilat Hamid, 46 people, including children, were killed, and cases of kidnapping and sexual violence were reported.

The UN has condemned the violence and called for an immediate investigation. The international community has yet to offer a clear strategy for ending the crisis, and arms shipments to the region continue.
