The warring parties in Sudan held talks in Bahrain
It was reported that the warring parties in Sudan held talks in Bahrain and agreed to maintain the unity of the country. These conflicts caused the death of 12 thousand people, famine and displacement of millions of people.
Senior commanders of the Sudanese army and the Rapid Action Force met three times in January in Bahrain, Reuters reports.
It is noted that the parties held negotiations of this level for the first time in the past 9 months since the beginning of armed conflicts. The meetings began after several mediation efforts by various countries to reach a political agreement to end the war. The talks were held with the participation of the officials of Egypt, UAE, USA and Saudi Arabia.
The delegation of the Sudanese army was represented by the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Major-General Shamsuddin Kabbashi, and the Rapid Action Forces was represented by the commander 's brother, Major-General Abdurrahim Dagalo. As mentioned, the parties agreed on the declaration of principles , which includes the issue of preserving the unity of the country.
Since April 2023, fighting has been going on between the two sides in Sudan. The conflict arose from disagreements over the powers of the army and Rapid Action Forces as part of the political transition to civilian rule.
According to UN estimates, the conflict has already killed more than 13,000 people, as well as caused famine and large numbers of refugees.
