Kurdish armed group in Syria fails to reach agreement with new government
Recent talks between the Syrian government and the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) have failed to yield any results. The SDF has refused to make concessions on key points of the March agreement, despite US mediation and the participation of France, according to sources close to the process.
The SDF is demanding the preservation of its military structures and decentralization model in northeastern Syria, a demand that Damascus sees as a threat to the country's sovereignty.
According to reports, proposals put forward by the Syrian Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Interior, and Defense were also rejected by the SDF delegation, leading the US side to briefly walk out of the talks in protest.
