American restaurant chain KFC has temporarily closed 108 of its branches in Malaysia following a boycott launched in response to Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip. Earlier, KFC used the phrase "Sorry, no tentacles here, but finger-licking good chickens" in an ad campaign. These words were taken as a mockery of the millions of Gaza residents living in tents. McDonald's and Starbucks revenues also fell.

American restaurant chain KFC has temporarily closed 108 of its branches in Malaysia following a boycott launched in response to Israel's attacks on the Gaza Strip.

First, KFC posted on social media: "Sorry, no tentacles here, finger-lickin' good chicken!" posted the inscription.

The post has sparked controversy and calls for a boycott among social media users. This announcement was seen as a reference to the plight of the starving displaced Palestinians in Rafah!

It was later explained that the message was related to the island of Antigua in the Caribbean Sea, where the theft of tents of the local company APUA was taking place.

McDonald's also reported its first quarterly profit decline in two years. McDonald's overt support for Israel, including giving free food to occupation soldiers and buying franchises in Israel, has sparked boycotts in the US and around the world. Global comparable sales growth shrank to 1.9% for the fourth consecutive quarter.

Starbucks also cut its annual sales forecast last quarter because of the boycotts.
