Italy allocates 68 million euros in aid to Syria

The Italian government has allocated 68 million euros for humanitarian projects and infrastructure reconstruction in Syria, Reuters reported.


According to the report, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said during a parliamentary hearing that this financial assistance would serve to support the country's political transition.


In addition, the minister described the political changes taking place in Syria as a "positive step" and expressed his support for continuing the EU's policy of gradually easing sanctions.


Italy also plans to hold a business forum in Syria in the coming weeks to launch new cooperation projects and resume cooperation, the publication said.


For information, donors led by the European Union previously pledged 5.8 billion euros in aid to Syria this month.
