Israel: Turkey is becoming the most important player in Syria
Israeli think tank: Turkey is becoming the most important player in Syria
According to the conclusion of the Israeli Moche Dayan Center for Strategic Analysis, if the Bashar Assad regime in Syria is overthrown, the region could witness major geopolitical changes.
Analysts believe that Turkey is pursuing an Ottoman-era policy in Syria and could take a leading role in rebuilding the country and training the Syrian army. Ankara also plans to build a pipeline through Syrian territory to transport Qatari natural gas to Europe via Turkey.
It is said that one of Turkey's main priorities in Syria is to eliminate the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and its military wing, the YPG. If Israel officially supports the YPG, tensions could arise between Ankara and Tel Aviv.
So far, these assumptions have not been officially confirmed by Ankara or Tel Aviv, but given the complex situation in the region, it is believed that such a scenario could happen.
