Israel plans to demolish the village of al-Numan in the West Bank

The Israeli government plans to demolish all 45 homes in the village of al-Numan, east of Bethlehem, citing a lack of a building permit as the reason for the demolition. The village has existed since 1948, with the last house built in 1993. The move is aimed at forcing 150 Palestinian residents to flee their homes and annexing the village to occupied Jerusalem.

According to the UN, Israel demolished 1,058 Palestinian properties in the West Bank in 2024, including 192 settlements. These actions negatively affected 38,000 people. Also in July, Israeli authorities approved the seizure of 12.7 square kilometers of land from the Jordan Valley, one of the largest land seizures in the region.

These illegal Israeli actions violate international law and seriously threaten the establishment of an independent Palestinian state. Today, more than 700,000 Israelis live in more than 200 illegal settlements in the occupied territories.
