Israel* agrees to resume humanitarian aid to Gaza
The Israeli* government has agreed to gradually resume humanitarian aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip. The aid will be provided through the US-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF). The organization plans to begin operations in Gaza by the end of May.
According to Reuters, the new plan was developed in cooperation between Israel* and the United States, and will be implemented by private companies, rather than the usual UN involvement. The process will involve US-based companies UG Solutions and Safe Reach Solutions.
Meanwhile, major humanitarian organizations such as the UN and the Red Cross are calling the plan a politicized and militarized mechanism, considering it contrary to humanitarian principles.
For your information, no aid has been delivered to Gaza since March 2. Global hunger watchdogs warn that nearly half a million people in the territory - a quarter of the population - are at risk of starvation.
