Internet restored in Afghanistan

Tolo News reports that the internet has been fully restored in Afghanistan.

On September 29, NetBlocks, an organization that monitors internet freedom around the world, reported that the Taliban had shut down fiber-optic internet.

On September 30, the Afghan government denied these claims, saying the internet shutdown in the country was due to "the disruption of fiber-optic infrastructure."

According to the Associated Press, the country's internet shutdown has led to disruptions in banking, commerce, and aviation.

Afghan government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said that fiber optic networks are currently being replaced.
