India says its citizens were recruited into the Russian army with the promise of recruitment
India has announced that at least 35 of its citizens were recruited into the Russian army with the promise of employment and sent to the war in Ukraine after special military training. The country's embassy in Moscow reported that one of these citizens was killed in the war. Nepal also confirmed that 14 of its citizens died fighting in the ranks of the Russian army.
India's Ministry of External Affairs claims that its citizens are being recruited into the Russian army with the promise of recruitment.
External Affairs Ministry spokesman Randhir Jaiswal urged his countrymen not to be "fooled" by intermediaries offering "support jobs" in the Russian army.
The diplomat said that they are negotiating with the Moscow administration to return their citizens who were lured to Russia with the promise of work.
Earlier, a video was circulated on social media where 20 Indians appealed to their government and asked for help, stating that they went to Russia for tourist purposes and that they were sent to the war in Ukraine after special training.
On Thursday, India's Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) announced that at least 35 Indians had been taken to Russia through agents.
The SBI insisted that they had received combat training and had been sent to the Russo-Ukrainian war against their will.
The Indian embassy in Moscow confirmed that an Indian citizen was killed while fighting on the Russian side.
On the other hand, Nepal also shared information about the death of 14 of its citizens who were trained to take part in hostilities against Ukraine and demanded the release of hundreds of its citizens who were trained to take part in hostilities in Russia.
