In connection with the death of the President of Iran Ibrahim Raisi as a result of a helicopter crash, 5 days of mourning were announced in the country. Also, national mourning was announced in Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, India, Pakistan and Tajikistan.
On May 19, the President of Iran Ibrahim Raisi and his accompanying Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir Abdulakhian, Governor of East Azerbaijan Malik Rahmati and Imam of Tabriz Muhammad Ali al-Hashem died as a result of a helicopter crash.
After that, five days of mourning were declared in Iran. In addition to Iran, 7 other countries also declared national mourning. They are:
Syria - 3 days
Lebanon - 3 days
Iraq - 1 day
India - 1 day
Turkey - 1 day
Pakistan - 1 day
Tajikistan - 2 days
For example, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared a day of mourning in connection with the tragedy in Iran and said that Turkey will stand by Iran in difficult times.
"The people of Iran are our brothers. We have always appreciated Iran's strong support for the Palestinian cause. We are deeply saddened by the death of the late leader. We share your pain," he said.
On this occasion, flags were lowered to half-mast throughout the country.
