IAEA: Attacks on NPPs increase risk of major nuclear accident
Unmanned aircraft crashed in the Zaporozhe nuclear power plant area . At least three direct hits were made to the reactor wall . Both Moscow and Kiev deny involvement in the incident .
According to the NPP administration, one drone crashed near the kitchen and damaged a truck carrying food. Another device fell near the cargo port.
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, called the drone attack on the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant "reckless". According to him, there were at least three direct hits to the main containment structures of the reactor. The IAEA believes that the situation does not pose a threat to nuclear safety, but such incidents increase the risk of a major nuclear accident.
Moscow blamed Kiev for the attack on Zaporozhye NPP, which was occupied by Russian troops. Ukraine's General Intelligence Service said it was not involved in the attack, calling it a "simulation strike" by Rossiya.
At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky once again drew attention to the need to protect Ukrainian cities and infrastructure from Russian airstrikes. He also noted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine do not have projectiles for a counterattack.
"We need to tell Congress directly that if Congress doesn't help Ukraine, Ukraine will lose the war. And we need to find a public way to do that. If Ukraine loses the war, other countries will be attacked, and that's true. In the coming weeks , Russia will use nuclear weapons on this issue. you will see that it attracts more and more," said Vladimir Zelensky.
