Hamas releases Israeli prisoners

The second round of prisoner swaps between Hamas and Israel has seen the release of four female Israeli soldiers captured in the Gaza Strip. The names of the women released from captivity are Karina Ariev, Daniella Gilboa, Naamah Levi and Liri Albag.

Karina Ariev (20 years old): She was captured by Hamas on October 7, 2023, while serving at the Nahal Oz base. Initial images of her abduction were released by Hamas and confirmed by her parents.

Daniella Gilboa (20): Gilboa was also captured while serving at the Nahal Oz base. In a video released by Hamas in July, she pleaded with the Israeli government to release her and other prisoners.

Naamah Levi (arrested at 19): Levi was captured when she was just starting her service. Her abduction was captured on video, where she was seen being bundled into a car by Hamas soldiers.

Liri Albag: Not fully informed about him, but he was also captured during the 2023 attack.

Under the terms of the deal, Israel agreed to release 50 Palestinian prisoners for every woman captured by Hamas. In the first phase, 200 Palestinian prisoners will be released. The remaining prisoners are expected to be released in later phases of the deal.

The third phase of the agreement aims to rebuild Gaza and ensure long-term stability. The second round of negotiations is scheduled to begin on February 4, 2025.
