Hamas ready to release Israeli prisoners all at once for permanent ceasefire - Al Jazeera

Qatar's Al Jazeera television channel, citing its sources, reported that Hamas is suddenly releasing Israeli prisoners in exchange for a permanent ceasefire. The Palestinian group also confirmed that it would hand over the bodies of four prisoners on Thursday and release six more live prisoners on Saturday .

Hamas is proposing a "one-time" exchange of all Israeli and Palestinian prisoners in the second phase of a ceasefire agreement across Gaza, with the aim of achieving a permanent truce and a complete Israeli withdrawal, Qatar's Al Jazeera television channel reported, citing its sources.

The Palestinian group also confirmed that it would hand over the bodies of four prisoners on Thursday and release six more living prisoners on Saturday. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar also confirmed that talks on the second phase of the deal "will take place this week."

The Gaza Health Ministry said 48,291 Palestinians were killed and 111,722 wounded in Israel's war with Gaza. The government press service said the death toll had risen to at least 61,709, with thousands of Palestinians still missing under the rubble now presumed dead.
