Hamas commander killed by Israel appears

Hussein Fayyad, the Hamas military commander who Israel claimed was killed in May 2024, has been revealed to be alive. Palestinian publication Arab48 reported that he recently appeared in a video that circulated on social media.

The video shows Fayyad speaking at a funeral in northern Gaza. Standing amidst rubble, he praised the Gaza resistance and called the Israeli operation meaningless.

The Israeli military had previously said Fayyad was killed in a special operation in May against underground tunnels in Jabalia. However, new information has confirmed that intelligence was mistaken.

According to Hareets, the Israeli army admitted that the information about Fayyod's killing was merely speculation.
