According to forecasters, the average temperature in February this year was 13.54 degrees Celsius, which is 0.81 degrees above the 1991-2020 average and 0.12 degrees above the previous record high of February 2016.

It is noted that February 2024 became the ninth month in a row with record high weather .

The average temperature across Europe last month was 3C above normal, "well above the average for Central and Eastern Europe". In addition, regions of Siberia, some parts of North America, most of South America, Africa and western Australia also got warmer, forecasters said.

The data is collected by satellites, weather stations, ships and aircraft around the world, Copernicus said .
