EU countries support the decision to arrest Netanyahu
Most of the countries of the European Union support the International Criminal Court in connection with the issuance of an arrest warrant for the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The High Representative of the European Union, the Netherlands, Italy, Britain, Norway, Sweden, Ireland and Switzerland have already said that they will follow the decision of the Hague court.
The foreign ministers of the Netherlands and Switzerland have confirmed that they will arrest Netanyahu if he visits their countries. The French Foreign Ministry did not respond to questions about Netanyahu's arrest.
Italy will have to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he comes to the country, Defense Minister Guido Crosetto said after the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant.
Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg criticized the Israeli leader's arrest warrant, calling it "incomprehensible" and "undermining the authority of the judiciary", but Austria is obliged to carry out the arrest warrants because "international law" cannot be negotiated and everywhere and said it will always be followed.
Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris called the warrants a "very important step" and added that Ireland respected the role of the International Criminal Court, and that any country that could help it fulfill its role should do so "as a matter of urgency".
Britain may agree to any request from the International Criminal Court to arrest Benjamin Netanyahu if he visits the country, British media reported, although Downing Street refused to confirm the question directly.
The White House announced that the decision of the International Criminal Court to arrest Netanyahu and Gallant will be rejected.
