Egypt prepares to purchase South Korean FA-50 fighters
Army Recognition reports that the Egyptian Air Force is in talks to purchase 36 of South Korea's FA-50 Fighting Eagle light fighter jets as part of its fleet renewal.
"In the future, this figure may be increased to 70, which will help replace some of the Alpha Jet and K-8E aircraft," the report says.
In addition, the issue of local production of FA-50 aircraft under the Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) with the support of Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) is also being discussed. According to the publication, this project will allow Cairo to acquire advanced technologies and increase its export potential.
In terms of information, the FA-50 Block 20 model is equipped with an AESA radar, an airborne refueling system, and the Link-16 data exchange system.
