Britain refuses to grant asylum to Afghans who fought against the Taliban

The British government has refused to grant political asylum to thousands of former Afghan soldiers who fought alongside the British against the Taliban, Arab News reported.

The British Defense Minister previously denied the existence of such a policy, but now confirmed that Afghan soldiers are not being given sanctuary.

The fact is that the Afghan battalions funded and trained by Britain against the Taliban in 2021 are afraid of being punished by the Afghan interim government.

A former member of the Afghan battalion told the BBC that he felt like a useless piece of equipment that had been used by the British and now thrown away.

Former British military officer Mike Martin believes that the denial of asylum may be related to the investigation into war crimes committed by the British military in Afghanistan.
