Another petrol tanker accident in Nigeria: 80 people buried in a mass grave

A tanker truck overturned in Nigeria, spilling 60 tons of fuel. A crowd gathered to collect it when an explosion occurred, killing at least 86 people. At least 80 of the victims were buried in a mass grave. More than 180 people died in a similar incident in October.

A horrific fuel tanker accident in Nigeria has claimed the lives of many people. According to reports, the tanker overturned after the driver of the tanker lost control in the town of Diko, Niger State, on Saturday.

Local residents rushed to the scene and began to collect the spilled fuel, which totaled 60 tons. As the crowd surrounded the fuel tanker, a powerful explosion occurred.

At least 86 people have been confirmed dead and more than 50 injured, with at least 80 of the victims buried in mass graves.

A similar incident occurred in October 2024, when a fuel tanker exploded, killing more than 180 people. Most of the dead were killed in the explosion that occurred while the tanker was being cleaned up.
