The President of Uzbekistan took part in the EOII jubilee summit and noted that Uzbekistan is interested in expanding practical cooperation. He noted the need to expand cooperation in agro-industry, "green" technologies, creating conditions for labor migrants and tourism.
On May 8, Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the jubilee meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Moscow as the head of the observer state, the press service of the President reports.
At the meeting chaired by the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, the presidents Alexander Lukashenko (Belarus), Kasim-Jomart Tokaev (Kazakhstan), Sadir Japarov (Kyrgyzstan), Vladimir Putin (Russia), Miguel Díaz-Canel (Cuba), the Eurasian Economic Commission as the head of the observer state. Bakitzhan Sagintaev, chairman of the commission, and Sergey Lebedev, the general secretary of the CIS, attended as a guest.
In accordance with the agenda, urgent issues of expanding multilateral trade and economic cooperation, supporting industrial cooperation projects, implementing joint programs in priority areas were considered.
At the beginning of his speech, the head of Uzbekistan congratulated Vladimir Putin on his inauguration as the President of Russia. He congratulated all participants of the meeting on the 79th anniversary of the Victory in the Second World War and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union.
He noted that in today's conditions, it is of the first importance to support and stimulate the trade and economic relations of the countries, promote industrial cooperation projects and create conditions for the growth of direct investments. The traditional international exhibition "Innoprom" held in Tashkent last month was noted as a positive example of such cooperation.
"Today, this forum has become an effective platform for the development of business communication between Uzbekistan with Russia and other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union," the president said.
It is intended to expand this area and attract companies from other partner countries, including Cuba, Iran, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, Mongolia, Vietnam and Indonesia.
Speaking about Uzbekistan's cooperation with EOII as an observer, the head of state noted that the volume of mutual trade has increased, first of all, due to the increase in the supply of industrial products.
At the same time, the share of mutual settlements in national currencies is increasing. More than a thousand joint ventures and projects have been launched. The volume of cargo transportation is growing, the number of regular flights has doubled. Uzbekistan has joined projects and programs related to digitization of trade and cargo transportation, e-commerce, climate agenda.
Shavkat Mirziyoev highlighted the priorities of mutually beneficial cooperation with EOII. He noted that Uzbekistan is interested in expanding practical cooperation and actively participating in the implementation of multilateral projects of sectoral partnership within the framework of strategic directions for the development of EOII.
In this regard, it was proposed to prepare a new comprehensive plan of joint activities for the medium-term perspective between the Government of Uzbekistan and the Eurasian Economic Commission.
"We believe that the speedy adoption of the mechanism regulating the full participation of the observer countries in the projects will serve the effective implementation of this document," said the leader of Uzbekistan.
Willingness to mutually eliminate trade barriers and restrictions with EOII countries was expressed. In this regard, Uzbekistan has started the process of joining the 2009 rules for determining the country of origin of goods.
The President noted that electronic exchange of information on goods and vehicles moving through customs borders, integration of information systems of sanitary, phytosanitary and veterinary control, adoption of a plan for unification of technical regulatory measures and electronic certification are concrete practical steps in this regard.
