Afghanistan bans government employees from using smartphones
Afghan Supreme Leader Haibatullah Akhundzada has banned civil servants from using smartphones at work.
According to Tolonews, Wi-Fi services were previously completely disabled in several areas of the Islamic Emirate and fiber-optic internet services were suspended throughout the country.
"Mobile networks are still working, but their speeds are low and their tariffs are high," the report says.
The government is justifying these restrictions as a "fight against immorality."
According to sources, the ban on smartphones is also aimed at preventing employees from "misusing" the internet and viewing "immoral content."
