The State Duma offered to pay bonuses in the amount of 100,000 rubles to Russians who reported illegal residences of migrant workers. This initiative was put forward by Deputy Sergey Karginov, reports The Moskow Times.
"This initiative will help identify and neutralize illegal migration networks that are dangerous for society. People will be more active in reporting illegal immigrants, they will understand that their information will be of real benefit and they will receive a reward," Karginov wrote on his Telegram channel.
According to him, he prepared the relevant appeal and sent it to the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Kolokoltsev. The deputy explained his proposal by the fact that crimes committed by immigrants are becoming more and more violent.
"With the joint efforts of citizens and law enforcement agencies, we will create a reliable barrier against the flow of illegal migration," concluded Karginov.
At the moment, the number of immigrants in Russia is decreasing. According to Rosstat, 560,400 people came to the country from abroad in 2023 - 23% less than a year ago, when the flow was 730,000.

The Russian government began tightening immigration policies after the March 22 terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall near Moscow that killed 145 people. Citizens of Tajikistan, suspected of committing the crime that caused the rise of anti-immigrant sentiment in Russian society, were arrested. Law enforcement agencies have begun conducting raids in search of illegal immigrants . In June, the State Duma passed the first reading of the draft law introducing the procedure for expelling foreign citizens who are illegally in Russia. Foreigners subject to the new legal regime will be included in a special register . The rights of such citizens to change their place of residence, drive vehicles, get married and open bank accounts are restricted.
Later, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that more than 65,000 foreign citizens have been expelled from Russia since the beginning of the year.
