At 16:49 US local time (00:49 Turkey time , 02:49 Tashkent time ) the SpaceX spacecraft carrying the first Turkish astronaut Alper Gezeravci was successfully launched from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, Anadolu reports .
The space journey of the Ax-3 mission participant began from Launch Complex 39A at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA.
A Falcon 9 rocket will carry the capsule to the International Space Station (ISS).
The SpaceX 9 rocket, which is 70 meters long, 3.7 meters in diameter, and weighs about 550 tons, can deliver 22,000 kilograms of payload to low Earth orbit, 8,300 kilograms to geostationary orbit, and 4,000 kilograms to Mars.
Dragon capsule is 8.1 meters long and can accommodate 7 people.
The Ax-3 mission also included Mission Director Michael Lopez-Alegria, representing the United States and Spain, Italian Air Force pilot Walter Villadei, and Sweden's Markus Wandt, representing the European Space Agency.
Earlier, the launch scheduled for January 17, US local time, was delayed by one day to complete final checks by SpaceX.
