In France, the decision to reduce state support for Muslim lycées was described as "discrimination".
The opposition in France has called the termination of the state contract with Averroes (Ibn Rushd) Lycée, one of the country's leading educational institutions for Muslim students, an "anti-Islamic" and "discriminatory" decision.
According to the French edition of Le Figaro, Paul Vannes, a member of the opposition party " Fortitude France" (LFI), condemned the suspension of state support for the Lycée Averroes.
Vannes noted that the decision made by the governor of the French Ode -de-France region regarding the lycée in Lille was not applied to other private lycées.
“It's a terrible double standard. "If this is something that needs to be fixed at the high school, it needs to be fixed, " he said.
Earlier, the administration of the governor of the Ode -de-France region of France decided to cancel the government contract concluded with the Averroens private lycée.
The regional administration explained this decision by the fact that the education provided at the lyceum "does not fully meet" the expectations of the curriculum of the French Ministry of National Education in terms of "source and content".
The Lyceum opened its doors in 2003 and was the first to open its doors to Muslims who could not attend other educational institutions because of wearing the headscarf.
Averroes High School opened in 2012 along with the high school, which has been growing in number of students over the years. Today, more than 800 students study at Averroes High School and Lyceum.
