Iran has called Israel's blame for the attack on the occupied Golan Heights on Hezbollah a "fabricated scenario". At least 12 people, mostly children, were killed in a rocket attack on a stadium in the city of Majdal-Shams. Hezbollah "vehemently denied" involvement in the attack, saying the incident was caused by a malfunction in Israel's "Iron Dome" system.
Iran has warned that Israel is preparing "another adventure" against Lebanon following a rocket attack on the Golan Heights that killed at least 12 people on Saturday.

Israel blames Lebanon's Hezbollah group for a rocket attack on a soccer field in the occupied Golan Heights town of Majdal Shams.

"Our intelligence is clear. Hezbollah is responsible for the killing of innocent children in Majdal-Shams," Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari said on Saturday.

However, Hezbollah "vehemently denied" any role in the attack.

In a statement on Sunday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Nasser Kan'ani insisted that Hezbollah had no role in the attack and accused Israel of trying to "distract public opinion and world attention" from its crimes in the Gaza Strip since October 7.

He called Israel's claims of an attack on Majdal Shams a "made-up scenario" and added that Tel Aviv "has no moral right to judge or comment on this incident."

Kanani called on the international community, in particular the UN Security Council, "to support the stability and security of Lebanon and the region against the adventurism of the aggressive Zionist regime."

He stressed that any "stupid actions" by Israel could "pave the way for instability, insecurity and war in the region" and said that responsibility for their consequences rests with Israel.

It also called on the US government to "fulfill its international and moral responsibility for global peace and security" and prevent Israel from fanning the flames of war in Gaza and elsewhere.

After Saturday's attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said he had decided to cut short his trip to the United States and return "as soon as possible."
