Militants of the Al-Shabaab terrorist organization launched an armed attack on a hotel in Somalia, Anadolu reports.

It is noted that an explosion occurred in a hotel located near the presidential complex in the capital Mogadishu, after which a shootout began between terrorists and security personnel.

Many people were wounded in the attack, including government spokesman Farhan Muhammad Jimaleh, senior Somali police official Abdihamid Abdullahi Fanaks, media workers and some lawmakers.

According to the local press, several deputies were killed in the attack.

The Somali government has yet to comment on reports of the attack on the hotel.

The terrorist organization "Ash-Shabab" took responsibility for the attack.

The attacked hotel is located in a protected area. Meetings of government representatives are regularly held in the complex.
