620 Chilean lawyers filed a lawsuit against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials at the International Criminal Court for crimes committed in the Palestinian territories. The lawsuit alleges genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

On March 12, a delegation of Chilean lawyers submitted a lawsuit to the International Criminal Court against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other Israeli officials for crimes committed in the Palestinian territory, Anadolu reports.

The lawsuit was signed by 620 Chilean legal experts, including Senator Francisco Chajuan and Rodolfo Marcone-Lo Presti of the University of Valencia in Spain. One of the signatories of the statement , The former ambassador of Chile to Jordan, a citizen of Chile of Palestinian descent, Nel son Hadad, informed.

According to him, the lawsuit includes evidence that Israeli officials, including Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, committed genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.

The agency's interlocutor said that the delegation collected photos and evidence from open sources and media, including "statements of relatives of Palestinians living in the area who died as a result of Israeli bombings."

Hadad said the facts presented included Israel's shelling of civilians, the destruction of Palestinian homes, confiscation of property, and violence by Israeli settlers against Palestinians, as well as excerpts from reports and findings of the UN and other international organizations.

The former ambassador noted that Israel's actions against the Palestinian population are tantamount to ethnic cleansing and genocide.

"Gaza is a huge open-air prison. Its residents face challenges such as poverty, restrictions on access to basic necessities, and obtaining permission from Israeli authorities to exercise their right to work. These problems existed even before the events of October 7," he said.

"We demand that political and military figures who committed crimes against civilians be brought to justice. We want justice for these brutal crimes against civilians. There are not two warring armies here - one army is destroying Gaza , deploying colonists to annex Palestinian territories," said the former diplomat.

He recalled Israeli Defense Minister Galant's statement admitting that he deliberately prevented Palestinians from accessing electricity, water, food and medicine in the Gaza Strip. "This is an acknowledgment of the intention to partially or completely destroy the Palestinian people through starvation, " said the Chilean lawyer.

He noted that Chile is home to the largest Palestinian diaspora outside the Palestinian territories, numbering 600,000 people. "We remember our roots. We are concerned about the current dramatic situation in the Gaza Strip and that is why 620 lawyers have come together to appeal to this court. We are looking for justice," he said.

Hadad hoped that the International Court of Justice would investigate Israel's actions against Palestine. "There should be no place for impunity. Criminals should be punished. "Interpol should issue arrest warrants for Netanyahu, Gallant and other (Israeli) officials and they should appear before the International Court of Justice ," said the former ambassador.

According to Rodolfo Marcone-Lo Presti, the Chilean delegation is trying to draw attention to the genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories. "The situation in Gaza is terrible. Millions of people were forced to leave their homes. "I can't believe that this kind of destruction that is happening in the Gaza Strip is happening in this century, " he said.

"Chilean lawyers deeply believe in the fight for human rights. Palestinians deserve justice. This is very important for global peace," said the senator.

He also highlighted the difficulties faced by the International Court of Justice in classification and processing of evidence. Recalling the effectiveness of the International Court of Justice against the Russian authorities during the Ukraine investigation, he called the current situation a manifestation of "discrimination and double standards."

At the same time, he expressed confidence that in the future Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu will answer for crimes against Palestinians. "I don't know when it will happen, but I believe that one day Netanyahu will be brought to justice. "I believe that these incredible crimes and occupation in Palestine will end and that justice will be served at the International Court of Justice ," Presti said.
