Colombia wants to treat Palestinian children injured by Israeli attacks

The government of Colombia has announced that it will provide medical assistance to Palestinian children affected by Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip. "Associated Press" news agency reported about it.

According to the publication, Elizabeth Taylor Jay, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, announced the government's initiative in an interview with journalists.

"We have decided to provide humanitarian aid to Palestinian children. We will bring them and their families to Colombia for rehabilitation," he said at a press conference.

Jay also did not provide further details on how many children Colombia will accept or how they will be evacuated from Gaza.

"Our government believes that Colombian military doctors can treat injured children based on the 'experience' gained during decades of internal conflict in the country," the deputy minister concluded.

For information, in May, Colombian President Gustavo Petro announced that his country had severed diplomatic relations with Israel, accusing the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of committing genocide against the Palestinians.

In addition, Colombia stopped supplying coal to Israel in response to Tel Aviv's aggression in the Gaza Strip.
