Israel proposed a three-phase ceasefire
US President Joe Biden announced that Israel has put forward a new three-stage peace proposal and that this proposal has been delivered to Hamas through Qatar. The proposal also includes a full ceasefire and the start of reconstruction in Gaza.
According to Joe Biden, the ceasefire proposed by Israel will be implemented in 3 stages.
The first phase will last six weeks and will include a full ceasefire, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from occupied Gaza, the partial release of some of the remaining hostages, a Palestinian prisoner exchange and the introduction of 600 truckloads of humanitarian aid.
Israel and Hamas discuss the steps needed for a second phase, with the goal of finally ending the fighting. If the negotiations last more than 6 weeks, the truce will be extended for the duration of the negotiations.
The second phase, a "total cessation of hostilities", would also include the release of surviving hostages, including soldiers.
In the third phase, the reconstruction of Gaza will begin. Arab countries and the international community will build new homes, hospitals and schools in Gaza.
He also called on the leadership of Israel to support the proposal, saying that Hamas is no longer capable of repeating the events of October 7.
It should be noted that this proposal is significant compared to previous similar proposals, and it is the first time that Israel has put forward such a proposal.
