Why does ISIS not carry out terrorist attacks in the United States or Western countries?

After the terrorist attack in Moscow, a reasonable question arises: why does ISIS, which presents itself as an anti-American organization, carry out terrorist attacks in Turkey, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan and Russia, and not in the United States or Western countries?

"It is noteworthy that ISIS, which is one of the bloodiest terrorist organizations in history, carries out its attacks within the borders of a region that also includes Turkey," said an anonymous source in Turkish intelligence to Sabah publication.

For example, the terrorist attack on a church in Istanbul in January is the first attack on temples in Turkey, but ISIS has previously carried out terrorist attacks in other places in Turkey - in 2017, a terrorist attack in a nightclub killed 39 people, and in 2015, 109 people died in an explosion in Ankara. In October 2022, ISIS carried out an explosion in Shiraz, Iran, killing 15 worshipers and injuring 40 others. In December 2022, terrorists detonated an explosive device in a hotel in Kabul, Afghanistan, killing 15 people. At the beginning of 2024, an explosion occurred at the funeral ceremony held on the occasion of the one-year anniversary of the death of General Qasim Suleimani in the city of Kerman, Iran, and 103 people died .

The geography of ISIS attacks raises questions about how they choose their next targets and why the West and the US miraculously stay away from them. Even more so if the special services did not take appropriate measures terrorist attacks would have been organized .

It is noted that since 2011, more than 9,000 citizens of 102 countries have been arrested in Turkey on suspicion of terrorism. It is noteworthy that 1,162 of them are citizens of the United States and the European Union, and 32 of them, who were arrested last December, planned to carry out terrorist attacks against churches and the Iraqi embassy in Ankara.

The comments of Ali Muhyiddin Karadoghi, Secretary General of the World Union of Muslim Scholars, who reacted after the terrorist attack in Moscow, are also worthy of attention. He said that such actions have nothing to do with Islam, in particular, he said: "This terrorist operation has nothing to do with Islam. "Even if someone suddenly claims that terrorists represent Islam, they may actually represent regional and international intelligence services, but not Islam."
