A man who threatened to burn down five mosques and kill Muslim leaders in Britain has been jailed.

Blake Hindry, 30, of Rosebury Road, Kent, received a threatening phone call from an unknown number to a mosque in London on August 5. He was arrested three days later.

He pleaded guilty at Maidstone Magistrates' Court to making threatening calls to mosques and was jailed for two years and six months on Thursday.

Hindry, who threatened to kill those inside the building, made several threatening phone calls to four other mosques in London.

Police said they were "working round the clock" to trace the calls to Hindri, despite the number being withheld.

"We understand that Muslim communities are particularly concerned about their safety following the violent riots and crime seen across the country in recent weeks, " Metropolitan Police Commander Louise Puddifoot said.
