The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) reported on Monday that 100,000 children who were affected by the powerful earthquake in western Afghanistan in October last year are in dire straits due to the harsh winter.

UNICEF reports that at least 700,000 children are at risk of death due to ongoing armed conflict and malnutrition in Sudan.
