What will Trump's return change in the Middle East?
Donald Trump won the US presidential elections for the second time . Despite the fact that he promises to stop wars around the world, most political analysts consider Trump to be a great danger to the world. Even if we limit the discussion to Middle East politics, there are serious concerns about Trump.
Donald Trump won the US presidential elections for the second time . Speaking to supporters at his residence in Florida, he called himself the 47th president of the United States.
"America gave us a clear and strong mandate. We are making history. Now we will heal this country," he said.
Nevertheless, many political analysts consider Trump to be a great threat to the world. This includes his open collaboration with populist right-wing forces that are growing globally; stigmatization of many marginalized communities; the reason for this is his personal interest in foreign policy and his desire to rule the United States as an autocratic leader.
Even if we limit the discussion to Middle East politics, there are serious concerns about Trump.
Some people naively think that Trump is against war. These views are related to his insistence that he did not start new wars during his tenure in the White House. But it is difficult to say whether this is due to Trump's "restraint" or because others want it.
The clearest evidence is the assassination of Qassem Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of Iran's Islamic Revolution Guards Corps during the Trump era, when Iran decided not to retaliate in order to prevent war.
Trump previously set the stage for October 7th and all subsequent massacres by Israel.
He did this through the "Abraham Deal". The deal was to isolate the Palestinians and deprive them of the only diplomatic tool at their disposal - the possibility of normalizing relations between Israel and the Arab states.
Before that, Trump broke with long-standing tradition and kept the US embassy in Jerusalem, not Tel Aviv, and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) in Washington did not sign the decree authorizing the representative offices.
This severed diplomatic ties between the Palestinians and the US and confirmed that there is no diplomatic path to freedom for the Palestinians.
When the American embassy in Jerusalem was officially opened, Trump and the Israeli leadership celebrated. Meanwhile, Israeli forces opened fire on Palestinian civilians gathered at the Gaza border during the "Great Return" campaign.
As part of the embassy move, Trump named a unified Jerusalem the capital of Israel, effectively endorsing Israel's claim to all of Jerusalem. Trump also acknowledged Israel's occupation of the Golan Heights.
Also, he caused a lot of confusion with his hasty decisions. As the head of state, he unilaterally canceled the nuclear agreement with Iran. The deal, which even members of his own cabinet said was effective , halted the expansion of the nuclear program and eased regional tensions. Trump changed that.
Due to his lack of knowledge of the region and his penchant for flattery, he openly allowed Saudi Arabia to blockade Qatar, which increased tensions throughout the region.
Unfortunately, some Muslims think that these things are in the past and have been forgotten. As local imam Bilal al-Zuhayri said at a pro-Trump rally in Michigan : " I want to talk about today and the future. I don't want to talk about the past," he said.
Besides , Trump is in Gaza
He is talking about " not stopping the genocide , but intensifying it " . His idea of supporting Israel even more strongly for the complete destruction of Palestine is indicative of this. Donald even accused Biden of "trying to stop [Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin] Netanyahu" despite sending tons of bombs to Israel.
At the beginning of this year, Trump called on Israel to "finish the job as soon as possible" in Gaza.
In a recent phone conversation with the Israeli prime minister, Trump told Netanyahu that he should "do whatever is necessary."
Protests in the United States, especially against university students, are already fueled by government policies of violence, but Trump could do worse. He talked about using the National Guard or even the military against the protesters. As a result, the voices of activists fighting for justice can be completely silenced.
He also plans to expel all foreigners who support Hamas from the country. That being said, Israeli supporters, across the political spectrum, consider anyone who protests the genocide in Gaza to be a Hamas supporter.
Therefore, Trump's return is likely to further inflame the situation in the Middle East. This means that the end of the genocide in Palestine depends not on the new US government, but on the strong faith and activism of the Muslims of the world. Today, every Muslim in the world is responsible for stopping this massacre.
