" The project to preserve the Kokaral Dam and restore the Syrdarya Delta is in its final stages. By the end of the year, the ministry plans to complete the reconstruction of the Kokaral Dam, which separates the North Aral from the Large Aral Sea. This will serve to preserve the North Aral Sea, reduce salinity, and improve the ecological situation in the region, " he said at a briefing.
He also announced that the ministry, in collaboration with the World Bank, has developed the second phase of the North Aral Sea Conservation Project, which includes 39 projects.
" What benefits will this project bring? Its implementation will serve to ensure permanent employment for 2,000 people, develop agriculture and fisheries in the Kyzylorda region, create additional jobs, and improve the socio-economic situation of the region, " added Moldir Abdualieva.
In addition, he said, 1.6 billion cubic meters of water will be pumped into the North Aral Sea by the end of March.
It is worth noting that as a result of the implementation of the first phase of the North Aral Sea Conservation Project, the water level in the sea increased by 42 percent.
