Uzbekistan signs new cooperation agreements with China

Chinese companies will build wind and solar power plants in two regions of Uzbekistan, the press service of the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade reported.


An investment agreement on the development of the "green" economy was signed between the ministry and Chinese companies within the framework of the First Samarkand International Climate Forum.


In particular, an agreement was reached with SANY Renewables International Investment Co., Ltd. to build a wind power plant in Karakalpakstan. Its capacity will be 1,000 MW.


The second project involves the construction of a 500 MW solar power plant by China Electrical Equipment International Company Limited in the Forish district of Jizzakh region.


For information, it is planned to increase the share of renewable energy to 54% by 2030 by building 19,000 MW of "green" capacity in the country.
