This memorandum is one of the first steps aimed at advancing these efforts and strengthening economic cooperation by the United States and Uzbekistan.
"This document serves as an important step in the continuation of the US-Uzbekistan dialogue in the direction of geological exploration, extraction of minerals and the creation of a chain of high-value products," the ministry said.
"Minerals and rare earth elements are essential for clean energy and other technologies and are playing an increasingly important role in our economy. The United States is actively working to attract private sector investment to Uzbekistan's mining industry. The Memorandum of Understanding also reflects our common goal of ensuring high environmental, labor and management standards in the global mining industry," the US Embassy said in a statement.
"The United States and Uzbekistan must work together to have robust and secure supply chains that will shape the energy landscape of the future. This MoU demonstrates our shared commitment to diversifying global mineral supply chains and expanding our bilateral trade ties," said Ambassador Jonathan Henick.
It is noted that the document was signed on the eve of the participation of the delegation of Uzbekistan in MINExpo INTERNATIONAL, the largest event in the mining industry, which will be held in Las Vegas (Nevada, USA) on September 24-26.
