Uzbekistan sends note to Russian Foreign Ministry

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan (MFA) has sent a note to Russia requesting a comment on reports of migrants being beaten during raids in Moscow.

According to Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ahror Burkhanov, the ministry held another meeting with the Russian side on migration issues yesterday, June 10.

In it, the Foreign Ministry noted that reports of unauthorized searches, disrespect, and rude treatment of Uzbek citizens in some cases on Russian territory are causing concern.

The meeting drew attention to the fact that such situations "are in no way consistent with the friendly relations between our countries, and that specific measures are needed to prevent them."

The ministry reported that the Uzbek embassy sent a note to the Russian Foreign Ministry regarding the situation in Moscow, asking it to provide an explanation and a legal assessment of the actions of representatives of the violent organization.

The note notes that the situation that has arisen indicates a clear violation of human rights, which is unacceptable.
