Uzbekistan bans fundraising for strangers

A clear procedure for collecting sponsorship funds is being established in Uzbekistan

According to the draft law adopted by the Legislative Chamber, individuals will only be able to collect donations for themselves or a close relative. Volunteers can only help collect donations for the benefit of strangers by placing an announcement.

The Legislative Chamber of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted in the first reading a draft law aimed at improving the procedure for implementing sponsorship activities. The draft was developed by the Ministry of Justice.

It is reported that the draft law establishes a clear procedure for collecting sponsorship funds in cash, non-cash, and in the form of property.
