Turkey bans Israeli participation in NATO exercises
Israeli officials have announced that Turkey has vetoed Israel's participation in military exercises organized by NATO, the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported.
Israel was reportedly invited to participate in NATO exercises, but Turkey opposed and canceled the invitation. The decision may have been made amid political tensions between Ankara and Tel Aviv.
Turkish-Israeli relations have been strained since the military conflict in Gaza began on October 7. The Turkish government has strongly criticized Israel's military operations, accusing it of escalating the conflict. Ankara has taken an active position on the Palestinian issue internationally, demanding an end to violence against civilians in Gaza.
This is not the first such decision by Turkey against Israel within NATO. Even after the Marmara incident in 2010, Ankara has repeatedly tried to exclude Tel Aviv from military cooperation.
Israel has not yet issued an official response, but the decision could further strain relations between the two countries.
