The number of Uzbeks who died after drinking counterfeit vodka has reached 14



Four more citizens of Uzbekistan have died in Turkey after consuming counterfeit alcohol, the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul reported.

It is noted that as of January 17, the number of Uzbeks who died from alcohol poisoning has reached 14. Currently, the condition of the remaining three citizens in intensive care units of Istanbul hospitals is also serious.

The total number of people poisoned by the consumption of counterfeit alcohol across Turkey is 88. Of these, 37 are local residents and representatives of other nationalities.

Turkish law enforcement agencies have reportedly seized 32,862 liters of illicit mixed methyl and ethyl alcohol in raids across several districts in Istanbul. Nine suspects have also been arrested, six of whom are still under investigation.
