The head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, who visited China, reacted to the issue of Uyghurs in sign language
During his high-level visit to China, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan did not say anything about the violation of the rights of the Uyghurs. "Union Turan" Telegram channel reported about it.
It is noted that the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs wants to further strengthen relations with Beijing, but he is facing a dilemma regarding the rights of the Uyghurs.
"Fidan quietly lobbied to protect the rights and culture of the Uyghurs," two Turkish officials told Middle East Eye in an interview.
It is known that Fidan met with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi and Vice President Hang Zheng in Beijing.
During the visit, Fidan went to the Xinjiang Autonomous Region and met with the Uyghurs. Wearing a turquoise tie in the color of the national minority flag, the minister called the cities of Kashgar and Urumqi a bridge connecting China and the Turkish world.
For information, the 2022 UN human rights report accuses China of committing genocide against the Uyghurs.
