The decision to conduct a "spiritual examination" of media products has been canceled

The Ministry of Justice has determined that the decision of the Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment to conduct a "spiritual examination" of media products, including statements on social networks, may infringe on the rights and interests of compatriots. This decision has not been state registered and has no legal force.

The Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan has determined that the draft resolution of the Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment on "spiritual expertise" of media products contains legally binding provisions that infringe on the rights and legitimate interests of compatriots.

"In accordance with current legislation, such legal documents of ministries and departments must be subject to state registration with the Ministry of Justice. Such documents that have not been subject to state registration cannot serve as the basis for the legal regulation of relevant social relations and do not entail legal consequences," the ministry said in a statement.

It is noted that the decision to introduce a "spiritual examination" of media products was canceled and withdrawn from execution by the bodies that adopted this document.

At the same time, experts from the Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment have made recommendations on the appropriateness of submitting proposals to the authorized bodies in the form of analytical opinions in the established manner in case media products distributed through various sources are found to be in conflict with current legislation.

It should be noted that the Center for Spirituality and Enlightenment announced the introduction of a "Spiritual Expertise" in early November. This project was perceived by many as censorship and caused objections. After that, the center announced that the expert group would only make recommendations.
